Côte d'Ivoire: "The violence is exerted on both sides" (Brazil)

GENEVA (SWITZERLAND) - Brazil on Friday a statement "violence (...) exerted onboth sides" in Côte d'Ivoire, supporting "the establishment of an international commission of inquiry that should shed light on violence by all parties. "
The representative of Brazil, Maria Nazareth Farani Azevedo, expressed concern at the deteriorating situation in the country, particularly with regard to population displacement and allegations of rape or murder.
Brazil, which came after the United States - who accuse President Laurent Gbagbo of being responsible for such violations - has requested that the Council plays his "role"impartially.
The Commission on Human Rights UN decided to commission an independent international commission to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding allegations of serious violations of human rights committed in Côte d'Ivoire toFollowing the presidential election on November 28, 2010, in order to identify those responsible and prosecute them.
